Norwich 10K Run in aid of MIND, postponed until October
Rose and Georgina with their MIND T-shirts ready for the Norwich 10K Run
Due to the high temperatures the race has been postponed until October 23rd, rest assured we still intend to run!
The Norwich 10K Run 2022 returns this year on Sunday, July 17th.
Our Sales Office Manager, Rose and Marketing Manager, Georgina, have entered, along with Georgina’s daughter, Laura. They will be running for Norfolk and Waveney MIND which is the Maids Heads Charity of the Year. The charity was especially chosen by the team as over the past few years the hospitality industry has suffered hugely and so they have a passion to support it in any way they can.
It is also a charity close to the hearts of Georgina and Laura. Georgina lost her very dear friend Sue last year after her 5 year battle with mental health. Georgina and Sue worked together at the Maids Head when they were both students studying Hospitality Management at Norwich City College
Georgina said “The Maids Head has changed enormously since the Queens Moat House days of the early ‘90s when Sue and I enjoyed working here together. The Restaurant used to be in the Minstrel Suite and not in the Courtyard where the WinePress Restaurant is now, with the Courtyard being an extremely popular bar with students. We both fell in love with the history of the Hotel and were delighted when the Hotel became independent again in 2012. The hotel has received a huge investment from Chaplin Hotels over the past 10 years and Sue was able to visit to appreciate this refurbishment”.
Georgina also remembers there being a large fire pit in the middle of the Courtyard, where the font is now, and wonders whether anyone else shares this memory.
Laura, remembers “Aunty Sue” with great affection and will be there to support her Mum in her very first ever race. Laura said “Mum and Aunty Sue were great friends, she will live forever in our hearts and I know there is not a day goes by when Mum does not think about her. They both remembered the Maids Head from their student days with great affection and for the fun times they shared whilst studying together.”
Georgina said “It just seems right to be running this race for Sue and I really hope that we can help to raise awareness of this cruel illness, there is still so much that needs to be done to support those that suffer”.
This will be Rose’s third Norwich 10K, “It doesn’t get any easier! But I am really happy to be running in aid of Norfolk and Waveney MIND. It is such a wonderful Charity and offers much needed support for those who live in our region”, Rose said
