Because we have been asked, we are excited to announce that we have listened and our pretty Courtyard is now licenced for outdoor wedding ceremonies.
We are delighted that weddings are now well and truly back, we have absolutely loved celebrating with all our lovely couples this year.
This tranquil space, located in the heart of the Hotel, can seat up to 30 guests for an alfresco wedding. Themed throughout the year, according to the season, the Courtyard can also be used for drinks receptions and wedding breakfasts, providing couples and their guests with a relaxed venue for their special day. It also provides the perfect backdrop for photographs.
Christine Malcolm, General Manager said “We decided to theme the Courtyard when we were able to open up for outdoor dining in 2020 and have continued to develop the seasonal theme ever since. We are excited to now offer the Courtyard for Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies and Renewal of Vows and it is already proving a popular choice. Our location in the Cathedral Quarter also offers couples so many iconic photo opportunities, from the Cathedral, to Elm Hill and the Quayside, all just a stones throw away from our front door.”
Hence the Maids Head now boasts four licenced rooms, all with their own individual charm and character, these include the Edith Cavell, the Oak Room and the Minstrel Suite. Our versatile venue offers the opportunity for an intimate wedding with couples nearest and dearest, or a larger space for a big gathering and we pledge to only hold one wedding at any one time.
When the Hotel first introduce their two vintage Bentleys, these proved an immediate hit with couples holding their wedding at the Maids Head, with packages including complimentary spins around the City for the happy couple.

Wedding guests are treated to a culinary delight with menus designed by Head Chef, Simon Dean. Simon and his Brigade were awarded Highly Commended in the Taste of East of England at the 2022 East of England Tourism Awards. Simon is happy to discuss menu choices with couples and offers menu tastings to ensure that dishes chosen are exactly what the couple wish to offer their guests on their Wedding Day.
