You never know what you might find at the Maids Head!
1962 Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists
Some regular Hotel guests, Liz and Andy, stayed at the hotel recently and whilst enjoying a relaxing evening in the Oak Room discovered something completely unexpected when browsing the old books on the book shelf.
When scanning the pages of the 1962 Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists, Liz discovered an entry referring to her late father with the details of when he qualified and of the location of his own Pharmacy. Liz said ‘it was so special to see his name – unfortunately he passed away when I was in my mid-twenties so Andy and our children never had the privilege of meeting him’.
On learning about this lovely story the hotel felt it was only right that the book should be given to Liz as a family keepsake. In return Liz insisted on making a generous contribution to the hotel’s charity of the year, Norfolk and Waveney Mind.
Liz says that ‘the book will now take pride of place alongside a few other pharmaceutical measuring jugs and apothecary jars, which are cherished memories of her father.
Liz and Andy often return to Norwich and stay at the hotel and say ‘our stays are always first class – friendly, helpful staff. extremely clean and well organised and a wonderful location with easy parking’.
The Maids Head team very much look forward to welcoming Liz and Andy back again soon,
