The historic Maids Head has sadly had to close it's doors

It is with a very heavy heart we announce the immediate closure of The Maids Head Hotel, for what potentially is the first time in its 800 year history. We will initially remain closed until the end of April, but we will keep you updated as soon as we have some good news to share. Find out more in our blog post.

If you’re looking for a relaxed setting for a lunch or dinner or even just a drink with friends, the Maids Head Bar is a fantastic setting. Located in the Norwich city centre in the UK’s oldest hotel, the bar features wood panelling and beautiful decor.

We offer a full bar menu and a range of beers on tap, wines, spirits and hot drinks. We are the perfect destination for a break during a shopping trip or sightseeing visit to the city, especially given the history of the hotel.

The history of our hotel bar

Originally named the ‘Molde Fish Tavern’, the Jacobean Oak panelled Maids Head Bar has been serving the great and good of Norfolk since the 1200s. Horatio Nelson himself is rumoured to have had his first pint here.

We are open every day from 10am to 11pm. Residents are able to order drinks in the hotel lounge outside these hours, to be charged to their room.

Drink service times:

10am-11pm, daily.

Food service times:

The bar menu is available from 10am-10pm daily and a 24 hour menu is available for guests staying at the hotel.
