The award winning Maids Head Hotel is known to be the oldest hotel in the UK, dating back over 800 years. Perfectly located in the centre of Norwich with it’s own large car park, this independent, AA 4 star silver hotel, boasts charm and an abundance of character. Walk through its doors and embrace the welcoming splendour of a traditional and historical hotel which today boasts contemporary elegance. Providing excellent service, the hotel is ideally located with the whole of the fine City of Norwich on our doorstep. The Hotel also provides the perfect base to explore Norfolk.
Over the past six years, the Maids Head Hotel has embarked on a multi-million pound investment with our guests at the heart of every decision made, this has currently included all our 84 bedrooms, along with our Reception and comfortable lounges.
In March 2019 the Maids Head won both Best Independent Hotel and Investing in the Future at the EDP Norfolk and Suffolk Tourism Awards
Our 2 AA Rosette restaurant, the WinePress, will delight you with mouthwatering dishes using seasonal produce sourced from local producers, combined with our extensive list of over 45 wines, all available by the glass.
Step back in time and sample a local beer, wine, Gin or even Vodka in our Jacobean bar, a beautiful oak lined bar and delightful Snug which is believed to be one of the oldest bars in the area, or kick back and relax in one of our contemporary lounges. Alternatively, indulge in a treatment offered by our onsite beauty salon, Best Beauty
Visit the Hotel which features in CJ Sansom’s latest novel, Tombland, which again features his Lawyer, Matthew Shardlake, who “stays” at the Maids Head during his investigations at the time of Kett’s Rebellion and fully embrace the Fine City of Norwich.
Complimentary car parking is available for all guests, subject to availability. Please note that we are in the process of redeveloping the access to the Hotel from our car park. Facsimile of Maids Head ‘Birthday’ Letter Unveiled25th November 2019
Sir John Fenn (Rob Knee from the Paston Heritage Society) unveiled, on its 547th anniversary, a facsimile of the Paston Letter dated 22 November 1472, which gives the first mention of the Maids Head, the name of the inn that had taken over from the 13th century Murtle Fish.
