Summer Dining in Norwich | The Maids Head Hotel
1 of our new favourite desserts
New Summer Menu, courtyard dining and 800 years of history – discover summer at The Maids Head Hotel, UK’s oldest hotel.
A new Menu for the season
On 16 July, our Head Chef Ali and his team unveiled our brand-new Summer Menu – and it’s the kind of food that makes you linger over dessert rather than reach for the bill.
Four starters. For mains. Four desserts. A cheeseboard that needs no introduction. Every dish is built around what’s good right now – fresh, seasonal, and made with the sort of care that doesn’t cut corners.
Popping in for lunch, settling in for a long dinner, or marking an occasion that deserves a proper table, this is the menu to do it with.
Dining with 800 years of history on the walls
We don’t like to boast, but – we’re the oldest hotel in the UK. Nelson reportedly propped up our Jacobean snug bar. Catherine of Aragon dined here. There’s a suite where Elizabeth I is said to have slept.
None of that makes the food taste better, but it does make the evening feel like something. Our courtyard is the place to be on a warm evening – al fresco dining, a cold glass of a local wine, and centuries of Norwich history close enough to touch.
The Perfect start to a Norwich evening
Staying in the city, or just visiting Norwich for the night? We’re two minutes from Norwich Cathedral, Elm Hill and the castle – which makes us a very good place to start an evening before you go and explore.
Dinner first, adventure after. Seems right to us.
