The Maids Head has forged many lovely partnerships with local independent Norwich businesses over the past few years. And we are extremely pleased to announce that we have now established a firm link with the renowned shoe manufacturer, Bowhill and Elliott.

Bowhill and Elliott are located on London Street, just a stone’s throw from the Hotel. They are famous for making personalised, handmade slippers. Customers are offered a personalised service with bespoke embroidery, colourways, embellishments and more. They are the only shoemakers in the country who make in the back office and sell direct to their valued customers in the shop at the front!

Bowhill have very kindly made a bespoke design pair of slippers for Nigel, our Bentley chauffeur. The concept was thought of by Marc Debieux, Managing Director of Bowhill and Elliott. Marc kindly offered to make a pair of slippers for Nigel to wear when he is taking hotel guests for a spin around the City. These gorgeous blue velvet slippers feature the Maids Head logo in gold wire embroidery. with a discreet rubber sole, part of Bowhill’s street slipper® collection. The rubber sole has the same profile as a leather sole but adds grip so the shoes can be worn outside and not just in the Bentley. Nigel said. “I love these slippers. However, I am going to be very careful and not get caught wearing them out in the rain!”

The bespoke design slippers are:

Navy Velvet Albert Slipper – Navy Fabric Flat Binding – Gold Quilt Lining – Rubber Soles – Maids Head Logo in gold wire with gold wire edging.

The slippers obviously form a great talking point with the guests and Nigel is able to explain where they were made and encourage guests to visit the shop. The Hotel also has a Bowhill slipper on display on the Reception desk, demonstrating the Hotel’s commitment to working with local independent businesses. The Bowhill and Elliott partnership being one of many other partnerships forged over the past few years.

Bowhill and Elliott Local Price Initiative

Visitors to the Shop on London Street will be able to claim a £50 “local price offer,” on Bowhill and Elliott slippers purchased and agreed on the day.

Since establishing this unique relationship at the end of 2024 the slipper on display has become quite a talking point.
