Introducing Sophie, our Maintenance Supervisor
Employee of the Month, Sophie, Maintenance Supervisor
We are proud to introduce Sophie, our Maintenance Supervisor.
Sophie, who quickly became affectionately known as Soph, by all her colleagues, joined the Hotel’s Maintenance team in January 2025.
Since then she has been on a very steep trajectory of leaning! Soph said “The Maids Head Hotel is a animal. Not a lion, more of a cuddly kitten! There is so much to get your head around. Not just the maze of corridors, cellars and roof tops but also where all the plumbing and wiring goes. How the boilers operator along with the intricacies in the bedrooms, the kitchen, the WinePress Restaurant and the Maids Head Bar! But I love how this historic building purrs!”
Over the years Soph has developed her skills, having started at an early age working alongside her Dad. Subsequently completing Adult Learning courses in Tiling, Plastering and Carpentry and currently Plumbing. All these skills proving invaluable for her role along with previously working at a local Holiday Park.
Employee of the Quarter Award
Demonstrating her enthusiasm for her role, Soph has already been nominated by her peers for Employee of the Quarter. Receiving her nomination for always being helpful and supportive and 100% dependable when a situation occurs.
Soph commented “It is really lovely to be valued by my colleagues. From day one I have been made to feel extremely welcome”.
Sophie was awarded with an overnight stay at Seckford Hall in Woodbridge by David Chaplin, owner of the Maids Head.
Asked about one particular stand out perk of her role and Soph was quick to reply “Being given the keys to drive one of the Hotel’s three vintage Bentleys. I love the opportunity to take our Hotel guests and wedding couples on a complimentary spin of Norwich. It feels such a privilege”.
In recognition of Sophie’s efforts and achievements, last month, Operations Manager, Jon Richardson, promoted her to Maintenance Supervisor.
Congratulations Sophie from all the team, extremely well deserved.
