The Quarterly Vision and Values Awards
The Quarterly Vision and Values Awards were once again celebrated this month. Team members from across all the departments came together for lunch and to celebrate our Vision and Values. The quarterly Vision and Values Awards are linked to Our Guests, Our People and Our Heritage. As an independent Hotel, we believe in ourselves and each other to deliver the finest hospitality. We demonstrate this by:
- Being positive, taking ownership, going the extra mile and being exceptional in everything we do.
- Respecting each other, offering challenge and giving support so we provide the finest hospitality.
- Working as a team for the benefit of our guests, our hotel and our community.
We pride ourselves on investing in our team, their development and providing recognition and rewards. Staff can be recognised by both our guests and by their colleagues.
This quarter we saw Matt, our Bentley Chauffeur, receive 14 awards, mostly from guests who love his complimentary spins around the City and the knowledge he imparts. Chris, our Events Manager, received 13, again mostly from guests for the excellent customer service he provides when running weddings and events. Chris also received recognition from his colleagues. They fully appreciated his support for coming in early to start his shift when two large lunches were taking place. Our new Head Chef, Olly, received 5 awards, including one for driving a large group of wedding guests. Their taxi did not turn up, so he took them in his people carrier so that they did not miss the Ceremony. Massive congratulations to all 52 team members who received a record total of 208 awards.
Staff can “cash” their vision and value awards in for rewards. Examples of rewards include 1 reward a box of chocolates; 5 rewards a £20 Amazon voucher; 11 a £50 Theatre Royal voucher; 15 a bed and breakfast stay for two at the Gonville Hotel and 20, a pair of tickets to a Norwich City Football home game. There is a really wide spread of rewards that staff can choose between.
Employee of the Quarter Award
In addition to the awards, staff are also asked to nominate an Employee of the Quarter. This is always a highlight to the lunch and a drum roll moment. It was lovely to see Stephanie from our fabulous Housekeeping team earning this acclaimed award. Her peers nominated her for always taking immense pride in her work. Her rooms ALWAYS sparkling and spotless; for taking new starters under her wing; excellent training and for always taking on extra tasks without being asked.
Stephanie was awarded with 2 tickets and car parking to the Robbie Williams Concert at Sandringham. Stephanie said ” I am absolutely delighted with this reward and am a fan. I just need to decide who to take with me now!”
Long service awards were also handed out, Operations Manager, Alex, Reservations Supervisor, Melissa, both receiving their 10 year badges. Accounts Assistant, Emanuele, his 5 year badge. Whilst three staff in Food and Beverage, Geeta, George and Hannah and Jess in housekeeping, all received their 1 year badges.
Staff also raised a toast to the success of the recent AA Inspectors visit. General Manager, Christine, said “It is due to the excellent teamwork and commitment of every individual member of the team that we have proudly retained both our AA 4 star silver and 2 AA rosette awards. I thank you all for your support and hard work”
Staff Birthday Lunch
Next week sees the quarterly Birthday Lunch. All team members who have celebrated a birthday in the past three months are invited to join Christine for a two course lunch in the WinePress Restaurant. This is a really special opportunity for team members across all the departments to raise a glass and to celebrate their birthdays together.
