Wellness Wednesday

Each month the Hotel offers the staff a Wellness Wednesday opportunity.
12 staff members are picked from a hat to experience a private, one on one 20 minute massage session. To date these have included:
- Indian Head Massages
- Back Massages
- Neck and Shoulder Massages
The staff have got to know the lovely Hilary from Sense Massage Therapy who brings along her chair and sets up in one of the Hotel’s meeting rooms. Tea, coffee and cake are also provided and a Hotel Mental First Aider is also on hand to discuss, in private, any concerns.

These sessions have been extremely well received and it is yet another example of demonstrating how committed the hotel is to the wellbeing of all the staff in its care.
In 2018 the Hotel proudly won Best Employer at the Norfolk Business Awards. Since then it has gone on to strengthen even further that feeling of engagement, support network and inclusivity.
Examples include:
- Investing in four mental first aiders ensuring that there is generally someone available on shift that a member of the team can talk to
- Highly subsidised stays at both the Maids Head and the Gonville Hotel, Cambridge, as well as subsidised food and drink
- Staff meals whilst on duty
- Advent calendars and Easter Eggs for all staff
- Raffle prize for EVERY member of staff at the annual staff party
- Staff Christmas lunch and games
- Reducing the number of Christmas events so that staff can enjoy more time with their family and friends over the festive period
- Employee Committee providing a voice for all departments to provide a representative to attend a quarterly meeting with the General Manager
- Vision and Values awards to recognise staff for their contribution to the success of the hotel
- Employee of the Quarter Award as voted for by their peers.
- Head Chef, Ali is supported to be a Burnt Chef Ambassador.
These are just a few examples of the many benefits which staff are offered to recognise their importance as a valued member of the Maids Head family.
