In August we unsuspectingly welcomed the AA Inspector to stay at the Hotel. The AA Hotel Inspector books their accommodation anonymously to stay and dine and therefore the team have no idea they are arriving. They only make their presence known after checking out the following morning. Upon settling their account they request to meet with the General Manager to discuss their findings.Read more »

The Paston family were one of the most powerful and influential families in late medieval Norfolk. They rose to being wealthy landowners and courtiers. Eventually becoming members of the aristocracy. They are particularly remembered for the remarkable collection of letters that they left behind. These were uncovered at Oxnead Hall in 1735, by Francis Blomefield.Read more »

After over 40 years, much loved member of the Maids Head family, Dawn Medley, calls time at the Maids Head.

Initially Dawn worked part time at the Hotel when her children were little as the hours fitted around family life. Despite the long hours and the tired feet, Dawn loved working in the Banqueting Department. In particular, weddings, formal dinners and celebratory occasions.Read more »

Our Norwich Wine Week Showcase event takes place on Wednesday, 19th June.

With a successful debut event in 2023, Norwich Wine Week returns in 2024. Starting on Friday 14 June 2024, the three day festival will bring together wine makers and merchants to celebrate our regions flourishing wine scene. Our Maids Head Open Day held on Sunday, 21st January, was a roaring success. A massive thank you to everyone who attended. It was a pleasure to showcase the hotel and to hear about all the exciting events being planned for 2024 and beyond.

Guests were also able to explore our Paston, Cathedral and Queen Elizabeth Suites as well as our Surlingham Junior Suite. The Maids Head offers 4 suites, along with 8 Junior Suites and four feature rooms. All with their own unique features and charms. The hotel boasts 84 bedrooms all with their own character.
